Track campaign performance by using short links

Track campaign performance by using short links.

One thing that we regularly see when clients use our platform is that short links are not being utilised to their fullest potential. Instead of typing your website link into the message body when sending a campaign, you can use our short link tool to not only reduce the character count, but this also enables advanced performance tracking. Therefore, ensuring that you get the most out of your campaigns.

What is a short link?

Our short link tool allows you to enter a full URL (http://www.reach-interactive.com) and have that reduced into a short link that consists of fewer characters (http://ri1.uk/p66b). The new shortened link can be used for tracking purposes, unlike the long link which cannot. Furthermore, it also looks much more professional!

What is a document?

Another great feature that you can take advantage of is our document tool. This allows you to add a document to your text messages that you send out. This can be used to attach files such as a pdf booklet or a takeaway menu. A major benefit of attaching a document is that it allows you to attach more information to a message. If you have lots to say, then it’s the perfect tool for you.

The benefits of tracking short links or documents

Using tracked short links will provide you with great insights that can be used to improve future campaigns and remarketing purposes. Whereas, if you don’t track, then you will only be able to track the number of clicks on your website. The key advantage of tracked short links is that it will tell you the number of clicks, the contact number of the person that clicked and the date and time of the click.

Finding out the contact number of the person that clicks is great for remarketing because it means that you can make follow up calls or send out a second campaign to those customers that visited your website but did not purchase. Alongside this, finding out the date and time of each click is great knowledge for future campaigns. If there is a specific time of the day that generates the most clicks, then you should be aiming to send out future campaigns during that time frame.

How to create a trackable short link or document

Creating trackable short links or documents is extremely easy. You first need to go onto the advanced send page. Following this, enter your full URL or document into the short link and documents section, ensuring that you tick the tracked link button. Once this is completed, your new shortened link will appear in the message text and you can move it to the right part of your message.
