It’s time to chat with a new team member! This month we talk to Josh, our Business Development Executive about his role and working for Reach.

A day in the life of Josh

1 - Hi Josh. Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hi guys. My name is Josh and I was born here in Doncaster. I studied Marketing at Leeds Beckett University. One of my biggest hobbies is boxing and I train a few times per week. I also really enjoy going to the cinema, my favourite movie recently was Green Book!

2 - Tell us about your role at Reach.

My job title at Reach is Business Development Executive. My role is to speak to potential clients about the service that we provide and how SMS marketing can benefit their company going forward. Furthermore, I provide support to existing clients if they need any assistance when running new SMS marketing campaigns.

3 - What does your typical day include?

I started working at Reach in November 2018 to expand the UK sales team so I’m still settling in and learning new things! My days are spent mostly prospecting new companies, discussing their current needs and then explaining the benefits of using Reach to incorporate SMS marketing. The companies that I speak to can range from small online retailers right up to huge household names. Some of them have been using SMS for years and others have never used it so I could be talking to a broad range of potential clients every day. Finally, my role also includes managing the accounts of my current customers and ensuring everything is running nicely.

4 - What do you enjoy most about working at Reach?

It has a great work life balance which I think is rare (especially for a salesman!). There is a lot of trust and confidence placed on the team and it feels very rewarding. I also love the fact that I have the autonomy to speak to any industry using SMS. This means that I get to speak to companies from a wide range of industries, so no two days are the same!

5 - If you weren’t our Technical Support Exec, what would you want to be?

I studied marketing when I was at university and I enjoy seeing the different ways that businesses use creative ideas to engage with customers. So, if I wasn’t working as a Business Development Executive then I’d want to have a role within digital marketing for sure.

6 - Finally, SMS related, what was the last text that you received?

A reminder to check in online for my flight away to Iceland!
