An inevitable part of text marketing is that some of your customers will lose their desire to receive correspondence from your business over time. Should this happen, it is important that you provide your customers with the opportunity to opt-out from future campaigns. Whilst it may seem disappointing, there are in fact several business benefits that arise from allowing your customers to opt-out. Firstly, including an opt-out ensures that you comply with legal and regulatory requirements, which should be of the highest importance. Additionally, making it easy for customers to opt-out helps maintain reputability. From a customer standpoint, it is very frustrating when you are receiving unwanted correspondence from a company and being unable to stop these messages only makes things worse. It is also worth noting that just because someone has opted-out it doesn’t mean that they are not a fan of your company.

Including an opt-out link

The process for allowing customers to opt-out of your future text marketing campaigns just became much easier. Previously, your customers had to manually reply to your text campaigns with a keyword to opt-out. This would then trigger their number to be added to your blacklist automatically. However, our new feature now allows you to include an opt-out link which simplifies the process and reduces the number of steps required. All your customers need to do is click the link and they will then be automatically added to your blacklist 24 hours later. It is important that you make your customers aware of what will happen should they click the link. You may want to include a sentence such as “To opt-out, click here:” or “Click here to opt-out:”. The pathway for including the new opt-out link in your future text marketing campaigns is:

Advanced send > Short Links & Documents > Opt-out > Add Link.
